L2 Application Support Engineer – IMPS Switch (L2 IMPS)

Job Purpose:

To provide Level 2 application support for the IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) switching platform, ensuring smooth real-time fund transfers, transaction monitoring, reconciliation, and SLA compliance. This role supports the 24x7 availability of payment infrastructure integrated with CBS and NPCI systems.


Key Responsibilities:

? Real-Time Transaction Monitoring

  • Monitor IMPS transactions via switch dashboards, logs, and alerts.
  • Identify and act on transaction failures, timeouts, and reversal delays.
  • Maintain uptime of IMPS routing components and ensure switch response SLAs.

???? L2 Incident Resolution

  • Triage issues escalated by L1 support (e.g., failed IMPS credit, customer complaints).
  • Perform RCA and document fix steps for recurring issues.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to L3/vendor support (e.g., FIS/M2P/NPCI integration partners).

???? File & Message Flow Validation

  • Monitor and validate NPCI interfaces, including file exchanges (returns, reconciliation, settlements).
  • Validate ISO 8583 messages, and perform fixes for routing/table misconfigurations.
  • Support switch updates such as bank BIN mapping, IFSC updates, and charge settings.

???? System Integration Support

  • Support CBS integration for debit/credit postings (e.g., Turing CBS, Finacle).
  • Work with UPI, NEFT, and AEPS teams to ensure consistent IMPS routing and fallback behavior.
  • Monitor middleware/API gateways where IMPS traffic is routed.

???? Reports, Reconciliation & Compliance

  • Assist in daily reconciliation of transactions with NPCI and core banking.\n
  • Generate and verify MIS reports, transaction logs, and settlement files.
  • Ensure audit readiness for IMPS-related data as per regulatory and internal controls.

  • Ability to work in high-pressure, real-time support environments.

Preferred Certifications:

  • NPCI IMPS Operations training (desirable)
  • ITIL Foundation
  • ISO 8583 protocol understanding

Work Schedule:

  • 24x7 rotational shifts with on-call support for high-value IMPS failures, cut-off periods, and settlement issues.
